Hi,

I have an Imperial Russian Helmet plate used on the Model 1844 Spiked helmet. Originally it was issued to Regiment 49 but later on during the October 1853 to Febraury 1856 Crimean War these plates numbers were changed. Do you know to what regiment the 49 was changed?

From 1829 to 1835, number 49 had two regiments: the 49th Jaeger Regiment and the Vladimir Infantry Regiment .
The Vladimir Infantry regiment received a new 31st number in 1835 and wore it until the beginning of 1856.
It turns out that the regiment was the same, only the number changed from 49 to 31.
The Brest Infantry regiment you mentioned in the title of the topic received the 49th number in early 1856. During the Crimean War, the regiment was numbered 25 .

С 1829 по 1835 годы номер 49 имели два полка : 49-й егерский полк и Владимирский пехотный полк .
Владимирский пехотный полк получил в 1835 году новый 31-й номер и носил его до начала 1856 года.
Получается полк был один и тот же , только номер поменялся с 49 на 31-й.
Указанный вами в названии темы Брестский пехотный полк получил 49 –й номер в начале 1856 года . Во время Крымской войны полк носил 25 номер .
